Clay County
200 Years In The Making

Clay County was formed on December 23, 1824, and was named after Henry Clay. Clay County was originally formed out of portions of Wayne, Crawford, and Fayette Counties.

This year, Clay County celebrates our 200 year anniversary while looking back on our history and future.

“Government is a trust, and the officers of the government are trustees. And both the trust and the trustees are created for the benefit of the people.”

– Henry Clay, Statesman
